That was in 1929, when S.R. 8 went north from Winnemucca to McDermitt, and part of 8A took of and went to Denio. (Before 1929 there are no numbers shown on old road maps.)

In 1940, US Highway 95 superseded S.R. 8 from Winnemucca to McDermitt, but that section of 8A from Highway 95 to Denio existed until it was superseded by Highway 140 in 1968.

Virgin Valley sounds interesting.Silver Foxhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03131032620978696727noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8693614218792476252.post-61750072288689397042009-01-18T13:24:00.000-08:002009-01-18T13:24:00.000-08:00There is gas in Denio Junction, along with a resta...There is gas in Denio Junction, along with a restaurant, grocery store, bar, post office, and gambling... all in one garage-sized building. For those on field trips, the happiest thing to see is the waternfaucet outside. I do love those little tiny towns. The Nevada stretch of 140 east to the OR border was a close second for my choice of favorite places to do fieldwork- specifically the Virgin Valley area, maybe 20-25 miles west of Denio. More on that some other time.

Thanks for the shout-out!Lockwoodhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05960762797349483760noreply@blogger.com
