I've almost forgotten the smell of creosote in the rain, was surprised during our May trip to the Mojave how the scent of creosote (dry) brought back memories. Our sagebrush looks like it might bloom early this year, but maybe it's just getting ready to bloom really, really heavy.Silver Foxhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03131032620978696727noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8693614218792476252.post-50981489853150943452009-07-04T07:01:13.812-07:002009-07-04T07:01:13.812-07:00Nice colors on those prickly pear blooms. All the colors are intensified as you pointed out, I usually see more reptiles, and I love the smell of creosote in the rain.Diane AZhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02304549124035767882noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8693614218792476252.post-88538562361006972972009-06-29T11:55:18.893-07:002009-06-29T11:55:18.893-07:00Raptor Lewis, it's nicer if it's a warm ra...Raptor Lewis, it's nicer if it's a warm rain, but even the colder rains can be nice.

Coconino, I think you're right, it looks a lot like some kind of Calochortus - there are several possibilities. I'll see if they have opened up more next time I go up there.Silver Foxhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03131032620978696727noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8693614218792476252.post-10531861027335885312009-06-27T17:10:52.210-07:002009-06-27T17:10:52.210-07:00Try looking up mariposa or butterfly lilies for th...Try looking up mariposa or butterfly lilies for the first flowers you couldn't identify. Normally, I hate being in the rain, but those nice photos of yours showed me that it's worth getting in the rain sometimes to see the beauties of nature especially on a hike. Now, I won't be so tempted to sleep when it rains, lol. And, I won't grumble if it rains like that. Truly Excellent!!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
