I've been enjoying doing my PhD at the University of Tasmania, where the degree is through research only, no classes. A high percentage of our students are doing economic geology research projects, often spending much of their time off campus at their mine site, field area, or other home base of the company funding their research. The university is also working hard to ensure that all PhD students finish their degrees in three years if at all possible, so it isn't really that much time elapsed, in addition to not necessarily being much time at the University itself. There may well be other Universities which have similar environments, if the reasons you stated are the only reasons to hesitate on seeking the additional degree.A Life Long Scholarhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13930670217574191380noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8693614218792476252.post-69644717737997130942009-02-09T17:16:00.000-08:002009-02-09T17:16:00.000-08:00Amanda&PD, it looks like we have an Ender or C...Amanda&PD, it looks like we have an Ender or Card fan club here!

And don't get me wrong, Bean's a great character, and pretty unusual in many ways. It's just that I admire Ender. And what about Valentine?

No one in the geosphere will take up on this interview thing, so I'm safe from having to make up questions!! :)Silver Foxhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03131032620978696727noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8693614218792476252.post-43226998212124352182009-02-08T13:09:00.000-08:002009-02-08T13:09:00.000-08:00great answers!!! thanks for playing. I loved Ender too...though I can't say that loving him more than Bean is as clear-cut for me.

I'll check out some more of Card's books.

And I know what you mean about Sunday - it is a day where you have time, but can't actually go to the bank or anything becuase it's closed!!!PhizzleDizzlehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02036442165798690074noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8693614218792476252.post-90485966314909401872009-02-08T08:10:00.000-08:002009-02-08T08:10:00.000-08:00I love Ender's Game. I enjoyed the Shadow books, but for some reason I could never fully sympathize with Bean.Amanda@Lady Scientisthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16512722132229479239noreply@blogger.com
