Awesome drive on I-84 from Pendleton to Baker City. It was the first time I had passed through this area. I constantly get asked about dinosaur fossils even though our youngest rock is 270ma.
Sure hope you got in some rockhounding around Prineville. I still have some very nice plume agate from the Crooked River.Gaelynhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05784162697113288888noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8693614218792476252.post-78786576805076758112010-08-12T20:09:44.525-07:002010-08-12T20:09:44.525-07:00Mihaela, I love the Oregon coast, and we didn'...Mihaela, I love the Oregon coast, and we didn't get over there this time! I will have a bit more of what they call central Oregon, then a little of south-central, I suppose it should be called.

I used to call everything east of the Cascades "eastern Oregon" but was told firmly by relatives this trip that the Bend-Redmond-Prineville area (at least) is in *central* Oregon.Silver Foxhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03131032620978696727noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8693614218792476252.post-86451628389684308082010-08-12T17:33:37.963-07:002010-08-12T17:33:37.963-07:00We have family on the Oregon coast and visit there...We have family on the Oregon coast and visit there often, but I never knew "this side" of Oregon, very nice! I cooked for one of OSU's summer field camps at Mitchell, and was able to go on a couple of the day trips, as well as a few hikes from the camp during on easy days. There are some rock paintings in Picture Gorge (hence the name), but you need to look carefully for them.Lockwoodhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05960762797349483760noreply@blogger.com
