Where in the West, if you might remember, features some location in the western part of the northern hemisphere. This time, the unknown area includes water - a fair amount - mostly likely ruling out Nevada and any other intermountain state! Both photos, taken from an airplane, will enlarge somewhat.
Where is this place, and what are some of the landforms?I'll be out of town over the weekend, will check in via mobile when possible, but I might not be able to respond until Monday or so.

The PNW centric in me wants to say it's the mouth of the Columbia River. I'm probably way off though.
You might have to use Google Earth to find it.
It's Rose Spit, at the northeast corner of Graham Island in the Queen Charlotte Islands of British Columbia, Canada.
I was going to say Alaska.
Well, since no one else has addressed part 2 of the challenge (list the visible landforms), how 'bout this: beach(es), spit, beach ridges (or perhaps cheniers, though it's tough to be specific from the photo; apparently, "real" cheniers consist of sand ridges sitting on and separated by tidal mud deposits; these may be all sand), salt marshes and/or brackish lagoons (between the beach ridges).

Yes, Ron! It's Rose Spit, and I have a few links about the area and will try to post them this week sometime.
And Howard, I'll have to look up about the cheniers - they are called sand ridges, but I don't know about whether these are on mud deposits.
