Oooh! Clearly a RAVEN... Very different silhouette from a hawk.
Well.... Maybe not "clearly"... but that's what it looks like from this angle... the diamond shaped tail and what-not.
But... as I look through the Sibley guide, some of the hawk silhouettes look pretty similar. Maybe it's not so different as I thought at first glance... but I'm 65% positive it's a raven.
A raven! Well, I may have known that when I was taking the picture - but maybe not. We have all kinds of ravens around the mine property.
I think our Sibley's is back at the lake. Or maybe it's around here somewhere. Maybe. I think you're right, though.
It's a raven not because of the tail feathers or anything, it's a raven 'cos it has "fingers" on the end of its wings, something rather unforgettable. :D
